Waking up is hard to do.

Every so often my husband falls asleep somewhere that is not our bed. Living room couch, basement couch, you get the idea. It's important to note that my husband is a sound sleeper. Like, could sleep through a major disaster kind of sleeper. So, every so often, when he falls asleep in a place that isn't his bed I am left with the formidable task of waking the beast and convincing it to move.

The truth about this summer.

It has been a long time since I've written. Not just blogged, but written. As in anything.

This summer has been a summer of transition, or rather, adjustment to transition. Just three months ago my world - my family's world - looked very different. We had a different routine, a different pattern to our days, a different rhythm. Fast forward to today and while on the surface it may seem like a lot is the same, much has changed.

Ears, Teeth, Hands, Feet, Mouths, and Apologies

Good morning, sports fans.

First off, I need to publicly apologize to my mom, who did NOT find my snarkiness about her behavior after my broken arm from my last post very funny. She said I need to ask my dad about that because I was home with him when it happened. Apparently, he called my mom's work, but since my mom was in a class at the time he left a message. She only got the message after her class was done, which probably explains my memory of being at home on the couch watching a Cubs game with my dad, crying about my very painful arm. Anyway. Hamiltix, ear infections, and the Senate.

It's been another what-a-day.

Maybe you've heard, but "Hamilton in Chicago" tickets went on sale today at 10:00am. I had a group of 6 trying from 10:00 until after 1:00pm to get us all tickets, but that was probably a bad idea. We probably could have all chosen our ideal show and ordered 2 tickets each and been fine. But we were TOGETHER gosh-darn-it and committed to solidarity...

Tonight at 7:30 I bought Jesse and I two tickets on our own. It's dog eat dog in musical theater, I tell you. Friends be damned! (Please still love me, friends.)

To speak my truth...

Hello friends, hope you're well. I've got some new internet-digs and I want to invite you all over. You may notice that Everyday Truth-Telling is a different site than my usual site, Life as a Lego Giraffe. I've switched. Short story is that the phrase "everyday truth-telling" came to me a few months ago and just stuck around, and seemed to sum up exactly what I want my presence on this little web space to be about. Telling the truth about everyday life. My truth, at least. So, www.everydaytruthtelling.com was born and here I am and hopefully you'll come visit from time to time, if not more often.
